Lake County Kindergarten Readiness Assessment

First 5 Lake has invested in a research initiative each year for over a decade to track kindergarten readiness by asking teachers to complete developmental profiles for their students early in the academic year.  In 2019, only 57% of developmental indicators were rated as "School Ready" by kindergarten teachers. This finding is echoed in Lake County's below average standardized testing scores in future grades. Quality early learning and care are critical components to changing this reality for our children.
